Super Rebound

The goal of Super Rebound, as mentioned briefly on the home page, is to knock other players off the level by crashing into them with your own ball. This game was created for a Game Design challenge where we were given a week to complete the game. The team was made up of 4 people. My role was to test the game and try to find any bugs or exploits, as well as design the levels with another peer.
During the testing, I found advanced mechanics hidden inside our game such as momentum cancelling to save yourself from losing a life, and tight turning and consistent movement by quickly flicking the joystick, rather than holding for a charge like the game originally intended. We found that these mechanics added more skill to the game, and tweaked them to actually implement into the final build.
For the level design, we figured each level should have its own unique gimmick. The first level was a standard battlefield where players had 4 corners to save themselves, and 4 edges where they could fall off. The second level changed up the edges design with arrow heads instead of arcs. There was also a death zone added to the middle of the level, demanding that the player learned how to properly control their character. The third level added a shock wave to the middle as well as moving barriers on the edge of the stage. If a player bumped into the shock wave circle, they would have a second to get out of the way before everyone was thrown backwards. This could be used strategically or just to mess with others.
During my bug test, I found the momentum cancelling also worked with the shock wave, allowing for a deadly combo.
